Morning Joe opened the show Wednesday on a critical note (of course) this time taking out the knives for Donald Trump’s recently unveiled budget. Joe Scarborough wasted no time slamming the plan’s severe cuts, calling them “hateful” and warning that suburban Republicans were “scared as hell.”
“There’s two Republican caucuses,” said Scarborough. “There’s two-thirds of the caucus that comes from rural areas, and they’re still pretty much in Trump’s background, but Mika, there’s one-third that’s suburban, and they’re scared every single day,” he said.
“Dead on arrival,” snarked Mika in concurrence.
“When Trump puts out a budget that is hateful,” said Scarborough “As mean-spirited as this one is, you don’t need Nancy Pelosi talking about it out front without one-third of the Republican caucus in the suburban areas. I heard from a couple of them yesterday, scared at hell.”
The morning host Cassandra continued, warning that savage cuts to health care and research would resonate far more across America than testimony from John Brennan.
But with Republicans even dismissing the plan crafted by Trump Budget Director Mick Mulvaney, the debate appears increasingly academic.
